William Chavarriaga, 49-year-old cleaner at the Olaya Herrera Airport, poses as a cartoon character "Popeye the Sailor" during an interview with local media in Medellin. Chavarriaga, who looks like the character Popeye, said he has been entertaining his friends and colleagues from the past 30 years. He said he continues playing Popeye because he likes the attention.

Gary Atlas,58, prepares to run his six mile route along the beach at Coney Island in New York.  According to Atlas, who started his run as a means of escape during his mother's illness, he has run his daily six mile route bare-chested and swam the often icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean along the Brooklyn waterfront for 1,214 days straight

Zukhro, an employee of the city zoo, walks with Vadik, an 18-month-old male lion, on the territory of the zoo in the capital Dushanbe. Employees take the lion from its cage to have a promenade along the territory two times a week while holding a piece of meat to attract Vadik's attention so it walks nearby.

A monument of the octopus Paul is presented at the Sea Life aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen. World Cup oracle Octopus Paul died in October 2010. Paul, the German octopus famous for correctly predicting each of Germany's 2010 World Cup matches, received his own permanent memorial three months after his death. Paul died aged 2-1/2 in October.

People walk by the Corona Save the Beach Hotel, an unusual hotel built with garbage, in central Madrid. The hotel, designed by German eco-artist H.A. Schult, has no intentions of competing with The Ritz or any luxury hotel: it's built using 12 tonnes of garbage collected from the beaches of Spain, Italy, France and Belgium, rubbish dumps and flea markets. The goal of Schult's installation is to raise awareness of the damage consumerism has on the world beaches.

Jin Songhao (C), 54, pours a bucket of water onto himself during a cold endurance performance on the frozen Songhua River in Harbin, Heilongjiang province. Jin poured 90 buckets of cold water onto his body in 26 minutes during the performance, local media reported.

A woman watches Japanese artist Odani Motohiko's video installation "Inferno", at his exhibition "Phantom Limb" at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. Inferno is comprised of eight screens which waterfall images are projected onto, while the floor and ceiling of the octagonal room are mirrored. The artist's solo exhibition goes on till February 27.
