More than 11,000 villagers living on the slopes of the Mount Merapi volcano are being evacuated after the alert status for an eruption was raised to the highest level, officials said.

A strike by workers at France's largest oil port of Fos-Lavera was blocking 57 oil vessels, the port of Marseille said in a statement, included 38 crude oil tankers and 19 refined product tankers.
