Andhra Pradesh director general of police RR Girish Kumar has warned that Maoists were planning to carry out some major attacks in the state to register their presence.
"Some teams are moving at different places in the state for the purpose," he said appealing to the people to keep an eye on the suspicious movements of any person and alert the police.
Girish Kumar was addressing a press conference after inspecting the huge stockpiles of arms and ammunitions recovered from a secret dump of Maoists in West Godavari district on Saturday.

The material kept in 26 gunny bags, included spare parts sufficient to make 3000 hand grenades, six rocket launchers, land mines and materials used in the preparation of pressure mines and some ammunition.
"What we have found include the lower shells and upper shells and plastic chambers used to make hand grenades. These are deadly weapons meant for liquidating the police and security personnel as well as common man. Imagine what they could have done with this huge arms stockpile," Girish Kumar said.

Recovery was made from a house in Pydiparu village near Taunuku in West Godavari district on the basis of information contained in a diary of slain senior Maoist leader S Kondal Reddy alias Tech Ramanna.
Girish Kumar said that Kondal Reddy was very proficient in technical matters and he was running this secret facility for the last two or three years.
"They acquired the spare parts from different places and they were assembling in this place in preparation for major attacks", he said.
The stockpile also includes 26 cartridges of 9 mm pistol, iron plates and various other items.
Girish Kumar said that there was chance that Maoists were maintaining similar dumps in other places in the state and it was the responsibility of the police to identify and bust such dumps. He appealed to the people to extend their cooperation in these efforts.
"These are deadly weapons meant for deadly purposes. This is not for fun", he said.

Girish Kumar said that it was shocking that Maoist chose a peaceful district like West Godavari for locating their secret dump and weapons manufacturing unit. "This shows that they can be anywhere for their anti-social activities".
S Kondal Reddy and another senior Maoist leader Shakhamuri Appa Rao were killed in two different encounters on Friday last.
This is the second biggest dump of arms and ammunition recovered from the Maoists. In 2006 police had recovered huge stock of rockets and rocket launchers from a private transport in Nalgonda, Prakasham and Nellore district.
