'I dream of an India where farmers do not commit suicide when crops fail'

Message:I think everybody should work towards moral cleansing now. We cannot continue with this rampant corruption forever. I appeal to all the Indians to just live a month without giving or accepting any bribes. Just live in that environment for a month and then decide if you want to continue or give up. Just try doing that once.

Message:India has achieved what many people in the world long for and many more do not know the meaining of it, DEMOCRACY, the principle ,by the people, for the people ,to the people. Indians not India should look for their true identity, they should stand out and feel proud to be indians , show the world what to be an Indian means. India has never failed and shall never fail , The country who has been blessed with Lord Ram,Guru Nanak,Lord Buddha,Lord Mahavir and many wise Saints , can never fail.It is we indians who sometimes fail to do our duty and there many more like Mahatma,Bhagat Singh who have repaid their debts. Indian should always keep in mind at some time or other ,there has to be payback time. Indians should awake and not only depend on Govt to clean up mess.Yes, it is tough to stand out but that is what Indians are known for.Mahatma and only Mahatma is the person among 100 people of the Century carried out by TIME,who stood out for peace and not any invention or dictatorship. On the other hand,Indian Govt should also awake and see that Indians are getting closer and wiser, that they cannot fool people and they are selected ,not to collect money in their bank accounts, but show the world what India is and server the country.Running Govt, should be private business but the sense of proudness, the sense of TYAG (hindi word) and sense of serving for the people . Indians also should only think of themselves but as a country whole. Pupulation control is the biggest problem, and Infastructure is the next. Since it is an Democratic Country , we cannot force people but we can advice and the people on the other hand should always remember, there has to be payback time in their life.

Message:india has achieved less but the political leaders who governed india andIt`s states besides the official kingdom hasearned more. it has failed in alienating poverty ignorence unemployment arresting criminalism and has destroyed the national integrationby appeasing communal forces by way of reservatios, financial assistances, and minority protection establishments where as majority were ignoured which lead them to think on communal lines. the genuinedemands of the majority were opposed branding them as non- secular. India should treat all religions equally appeasing none.states should be given more powers and corruption should be arrested in all levels.there should only be two parties and no regional parties should be encouraged.if elected 5 years rule should be mandatory Globalisationshould be doneonly to the extent that indian culture is well preserved.Presidential system now prevail in Us is fit for a country like India with some modifications.India should accept help from allover the world to fight terrorism of all types.I dream such an india where there is freedom of all and acountry with no leader as Laloo, jayalalithamma, and subra manyamswamy with no scams as fodder, pamoil ,boforsand the like.If it does not come true I wish the condition now prevail may continue and a "secular congress government lead by a forign born indian wedded may not come to power.

Message:As a nation we lack discipline. While driving, while doing business, while walking and even while doing something as simple and innocous as sitting in the local park, the Indian will be marked by his tendency to break the rules, to break the signals, to not pay taxes , to litter the garden and to make a nusiance of himself. As a people we need the fear of law to be put into us. We may be the biggest genetic pool of intellect and talent but we need the discipline and the order of the USA or any other country to get the best out of our people .For too long now the politicians of this country have harvested the petty concerns of the average voter. Its time that all that changed. Benevolent Dictatorship sounds like a paradox but for a spoilt nation like ours that may be the only way out. Thank you Rediff for providing this space.

Message:India has achieved a lot so far, but we have lost much more in these 50 odd years of Republic stature. Where is the truth speaking hardworking Indian that I have seen in my childhood 20 years ago. People have become more and more corrupt by the day. Starting from the common man, to the politicians. Where is the end? Let us stop corruption. Will progress much faster! Jai Hind.

Message:I like to see India at the top of this world in the next 20 years and for this we need to think Global. Although India has achieved a lot in the last 50 years, we need to work more on this. We need to fight Pollution , Population. Need to introduce new traffic policies for communication ease. The main emphasis at this stage should be on Information Technology, the blooming market. Each and every person in India should have the facility to be connected via Internet and I assure , nobody can stop India from rising.

Message:India requires a strong-willed government to implement hard policies that might appear to be a bit tough for the time being, but will prove to be beneficial in the long run. Make the world understand that we are the "Masters of our own Destiny" and it's not for others to decide what we should do. Gone is the time when we should think twice before doing anything. If we don't care for our nation, nobody else is going to do that for us

Message:What has India achieved so far? Technically self-reliant and Economical stability What should it aspire for? Becoming a super power with no poverty and eradication of illiteracy. What should it change? It should stop Quota system and appeasing minorities and bring UNIFORM CIVIL CODE. Treat everyone equal and if atall want to have quota have it for economically backward people [no caste, religious basis] How should it plan its future? India must know its strong points and week points. Invest heavily on strong points and try to rectify its weak points. For knowing its strong and week points, it must consult press and invite public opinion on it and intiate debate on all media. Where does it go on from here? Instead of having just 5 year plan, India must look beyond and plan for say 20 years and review the whole consititution so that all defunt and redundant laws are removed and Constitution protects all citizen and treat them equally. Prioritize the TODO list and act accordingly. Political instability, corruption, poverty and illiteracy has to be removed. Illeteracy , poverty and corruption are interweaved and could be tacked as one problem. Political instability could be handled with reform which guaratees lifetime of a Lok Sabha to 5 years. Making election thru electronic medium will bring down the cost of election. Seal the border of LOC on kashmir so that no more insurgents cause trouble. Make more free market and have a market concession as a key for its foreign policy.

Message:India will progress if: 1. She succeeds in controlling her population 2. Scraps the reservation policy. 3. Declare LOC as International Boundary line and fortifies the army India side of border. Before that, military rule be declared in KAshmir and terminate all non civilians carrying weapons. LIKE PUNJAB. 4. Improve standard of living of army soldiers, dead or alive. 5. Include sophisticated weapons in army and Police. 6. Hand over all the police departments to the Ministry of Defence.

Message:hi to all the indians. it is great feeling that we have accomplished a great deal in 50 years. but the obvious shortcomings are not the lack of resources but the lack of motivation to experiment. even though we are not short of technical knowledge, we still use the outdated technology because we are not experimenting enough. secondly, i remember getting a fwd that indians succeed but india has not. we fought for our independence and got it thinking that we would make more progress if we ruled our land. but we indians have been very successful in lands ruled not by us - primarily read as USA or England... its not just our politicians who are to be blamed. remember, they dint jump from the sky. they are part of our society. when we as normal and low key citizens start following the rules and maintain honesty in our work, our system will get automatically cleansed. with hope for a better morrow. jaihind.. -priya.

Message:I think the best thing to happen to india is its study culture .Graduates coming out from Indian colleges are very smart and at par with world. At the same time we lack infrastructure to make it the heaven of studies. We can easily make many takshila, nalandas . I salute the politicians and martyrs of pre-independence era at the same time I feel ashamed to talk about the politicians of now . according to my little understanding I gained by growing up in India for 22 years these are the things we can do to make India a dream country 1. Introduce some sort of bill so that there is a aptitude test for the leaders. They should be studies .I am sure as of today more than 60% leaders wont be able to access computer and more than 50% are not graduate .If the leader is not literate he will never understand importance of technological age. I will stop here to praise Rajiv Gandhi for bringing fresh air of technology in India. 2. Reduce population growth- That should be the first task in any policy makers mind .Its very simple you cannot make billion people survive in that area .Its just too much load on eco system .I dont care what steps the government takes .Forcibly or by attaching strict rules. The population rate has to decline . 3. Once population is controled then we can think of improving our infrastructure..like health care ,roads ,education. 4.At the same time corruption should be weeded out by handling harsh sentences.Everyone knows how the files move in India .So even the peon should be suspended if he takes 5 Rs .Law should be made so that the execution of sentences are fast like maximum in 4-5 weeks . If the case stretches for 1 year noone will be scared of law. 5.Terrorism should be nipped at the bud .They should be trialed fast. Terrorists should not be kept waiting in prisons else many more hijacking will happen I think if we can achieve this in next 5-10 years our next generation wil

Message: Former prime minister, P V Narasimha Rao had a little unexpected publicity yesterday. In Bombay, capital of Maharashtra he was inaugurating a translated version of his English fiction, "The Insider." A notable Marathi publishers, Parachure Prakashan is to be thanked for publishing "Antastha" translated in Marathi by Ashok Jain, the executive editor of Maharashtra Times. P V Narasimha Rao is a diplomat and a linguist. He is said to know twelve languages. That makes him a scholar. He spoke in Marathi, though his native language is Telugu. I would not be surprised a bit if he did the translation himself or better yet wrote the book in Marathi. Marathi is a rich language and many original treatises, literary or otherwise have been written in Marathi. Mahesh Vijapurkar's account of this function never mentioned P V Narasimha Rao's scandals. Rao was accused of great misdemeanor while he was the prime minister. The Congress leader, as any leaders in politics and religion, have a tendency to blame others but not admit their own two clay feet. As a linguist and as a leader of people, I like P V Narasimha Rao. As head of government, I give him minus 'D.' The corruption monster survives no matter who is at the helm. Former prime minister who was assassinated by bunch of crazy Tamil Tigers or their hoodlums was also embroiled in another great corruption scandal. Two major ministers in Vajpayee's second government had to pack their bags and leave BJP administration in shame. BJP's technical and tactical unholy alliance with a known former chief minister of Tamil Nadu was their biggest faux pas. J Jayalaitha proved to be a bane and not a boon to the BJP.

Message:I dream of an India where caste is based on ability, not birth. I dream of an India which leads the world in scientific expertise. I dream of an India where I do not have to be ashamed of my leaders. I dream of an India where my leaders are truly world leaders. I dream of an India where an ordinary person does not have to perform extraordinary feats to enjoy a decent life. I dream of an India where only ability mattered and not birth. I dream of an India whose farmers did not need to commit suicide when their crops failed. I dream of an India which harnesses its rain water such that there are never any droughts or floods. I dream of an India which harnesses its solar power such that no state ever has to think of words such as "load-shedding". I dream of an India which extracts hydrogen from sea- water and uses it to drive cars and buses and trucks with fuel cells, instead of depending on foreign govern- ments for petroleum. I dream of an India which harnesses its wind power for electricity. I dream of an India which actively explores its vast ocean bounty. I dream of an India which takes pride in its ancient Vedic heritage and tries to unlock the mysteries contained therein. I dream of an India which actively looks at Ayurveda, Allopathy, Siddha Vaidya, Yunani, Homoeopathy, Acupunc- ture, Chinese Herbal medicine, etc. with an aim to cure the human body of all ills, instead of fighting over which system is "better". I dream of an India which sets a standard for human behaviour and endeavour. I dream of an India which takes an active part in the exploration of space. I dream of an India ... I dream ... I dream ... I dream ... But do I act?

Message:The govt.has to focus towards people rather than building its own brands. A basic service of telephone costs around 400% of the average salary for a common Indian. Whereas the rest of the world its less than 5%. If DOT can't provide this kind of service, govt should give up control and provide incentives to the private companies who can provide these services to the people. Due to total govt control on almost every aspect of the economy, average Indian still percieves the gove as a power which has to fight for his/her rights.

Message:India has fallen behind in its progress compared to even other Asian countries. Reasons are well-known to all. The simplest policy it can adopt is for the govt. to get out of the role of a controlling entity and instead to restrict itself only to forming policies and regulation of the formed policies instead of being also responsible all the way till the implementation. To remove the canker of corruption, the easiest way is to improve transparency. For example, making the various official documents that govern the sale of landed properties easily available to everyone will reduce the chances of corruption. Here, the WWW can play a major role of a simple and easy way to disseminate information. ... AS

Though india has a very large vibrant population, it still has a lot of illiteracy in the society and most of the people are involved in rural agriculture. One more area where there is a lot of scope for improvement is in the broad minded thinking, and creation of a open minded society. India has a responsibility on it as one of the oldest civilisations for it to show by example the values that have transended the time and the morals that the society which it stands. more matured relationship has to come in dealing with all the countries for playing a constructive role for the empowerment of mankind and increasing the effective use of the knowledge society for the purpose.

They very fabric of society has been toyed with. Look at Ahmedabad. You have a muslim Ahmedabad and a hindu ahmedabad. Next thing you know we will have a Muslim India and Hindu India. In that case we might as well vote in the Pakistani Referendum. At least those chaps do what they say...

Message:We have to accept the fact that we are lagging behind the developed world miles behind. Poverty, Illeteracy, Religious fundamentalism, Corruption and poorest infrastructure (road, telephone or sanitation) are rampant everywhere without any hope for improvement in the near future. Each of these problems takes years to get solved. In addition to existing problems, we have given way to religion and caste playing an important role in day to day affairs which will be a grave danger to the country sooner or later if not checked at the early stages. We are seeing Hindu radicals coming up in the same way as Islamists in different part of the world. Demolition of Babri Mosque,Burning Staines to death, Sarawathi Vandhana, Sanskrit education, Revised syllabus, allowing officials to take part in RSS , Digging the cricket ground and recent Water episode in Varanasi are all examples for our change in the recent times. If this continues, we have no right to blame Pakistan or Afghanistan as fundamental states as we are not different. When the PM and Home Minister go in support of a Religious organisation and other coalition partners watching it silenty, the situation is really grim. So called Secular Politicians are mostly cheaters. When they speak Laloo or Mulayan is ready to give their life for dalits and minorities. But when it comes to family wedding, they are desperately looking out for an Yadav only. Why can't you people set an example by cutting across caste and religion? RSS leaders are a bunch of upper class people, where the lower cmmunity do not have any represenatation at the top and are exploited. Can they ever agree to train a SC/ST as poojari to work in a temple or support inter caste marriages? Let them first eliminate the pathetic caste problems in Hinduism. The strong and powerful judicial institutions have done nothing to the common citizen. If he is not paying back a loan of 1000Rs, he is arrested the same da
