Hyderabad Police has detained three operatives of the Students Islamic Movement of India from the east Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh in connection with the twin blasts that rocked the city last week.

An official in the Special Investigating Team told rediff.com that the trio are being questioned for their possible links with some of the Indian Mujahideen operatives.

The arrested SIMI operatives were allegedly in touch with Syed Maqbool, who was among those who had conducted a reccee of the blast site in Dilsukhnagar.

Meanwhile, the closed circuit camera footage that runs into 60 hours has been sent to the forensic sciences laboratory in Gujarat, which has state-of-the-art technology, to determine what exactly transpired on the night the blast went off.

After examining the footage at Hyderabad over and over again the police were unable to clearly see the three persons who were present at the blast site. While one person was guiding them the other two planted the bombs.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency, which is also part of this probe, will now question Imran Khan and Syed Maqbool, who have been lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail in connection with the Pune blasts case.

Maqbool had confessed to have surveyed three sites in Hyderabad while Imran is associated with IM members who carried out the twin blasts in the city. The NIA has moved the court to seek their remand for three days.
