Akhilesh thanks UP for voting in favour

Samajwadi Party state unit president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday thanked Uttar Pradesh for voting in favour of their party across caste and community lines and giving it a majority.

He further stated that his party will implement the manifesto that they had presented before the people of Uttar Pradesh, for the prosperity of the state, adding that anyone meddling with law and order will not be spared.

I am responsible for UP failure: Rahul


Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took full responsibility for the party's failure in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

Gandhi said that the defeat was a "good lesson" for him.

Meanwhile, reacting on the defeat, party general secretary Digvijay Singh said that the UP polls 'was not a litmus test' for Rahul Gandhi.

Samajwadi Party in celebration mode


The Samajwadi Party workers celebrated in Lucknow, after the party emerged as the single largest one in Uttar Pradesh.

Party leader Shahid Siddiqui reiterated his confidence towards a clear majority and congratulated his colleagues for the election results.

Verdict shows clear anti-Cong wave in country: BJP


Welcoming the election results in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa, senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday said that it was a clear-cut anti-Congress mood throughout the country.

She said BJP has attained full majority in Punjab. In Uttarakhand, party is a little back in attaining majority but still there are possibilities that BJP will make the government there.

BJP has taken away Goa from the Congress. In Uttar Pradesh, the party has not showed a very good performance

Badals thank Punjab for win


Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday thanked the people of Punjab for his party Shiromani Akali Dal's win in the assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister and SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal also thanked the people for the win, saying that Parkash Singh Badal would be the next chief minister of the state.

Amarinder takes responsibility for Punjab debacle


Taking full responsibility of the defeat of the congress party in Punjab in the assembly elections, Punjab Congress chief captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said that he will look into the reasons for the party's failure in the state.

Singh added that would step down if the party's high command wanted, following the debacle.

Congress jubilant over Manpur win


While the result in Uttar Pradesh proved to be disappointing for the party, the Congress, however, celebrated after it appeared to be retaining the power in Manipur.

Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has defeated his nearest rival O Indira of BJP in Thoubal assembly constituency.

Party candidate from the state capital Imphal, Khudrakpam Devendro Singh expressed happiness over the lead.
