Dalbir and other relatives of Sarabjit, including his two daughters, had reached Jaipur a day ahead of the proposed visit and were upbeat about their meeting with Zardari. All of them went to Ajmer to offer a chaddar but because of the unprecedented security arrangement that had been put in place for the presidential visit they were not allowed to visit the shrine
when president Zardari and his son Bilal were paying their homage to the sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti. Later he left for Jaipur from where he flew back to Islamabad.
All Dalbir and Swapan -- Sarabjit's daughter -- could do was hold placards asking president Zardari to have mercy and release Sarabjit.
According to a senior officer of the Rajasthan police who had been deputed for VVIP duty, Dalbir Kaur was told that president Zardari was hard-pressed for time and she could tell her advocate in Pakistan to submit their petition to the president's office.
Attempts to contact Dalbir Kaur proved futile as her phone was out of reach.
