Twenty people were killed when the bus they were travelling in collided with an iron-laden trailer near Bundu, about 50 km from Jharkhand capital Ranchi, police said on Monday.
"The bus was going to Arah in Bihar from Jamshedpur when it collided with the trailer around 3.30 am, killing 13 people on the spot and seven in hospitals," the Superintendent of Police (Ranchi rural), A V Minz, told PTI.
He said the iron rods pierced into the bus, resulting in casualties.
About 25 persons were injured with 14 of them stated to be serious.
The police rushed to the spot immediately and sent the injured to nearby hospitals, he added.
This is the worst road mishap in recent years in Jharkhand.
