The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday described as "unwarranted and unsolicited" the Centre's advisory to the Karnataka government, based on Governor H R Bhardwaj's report, maintaining such advice should instead be sent to him for acting like an "old courtier" of the Congress.

"The home ministry has issued an unwarranted advisory to the Karnataka government. It is evident that there is a politically-inspired and unconstitutional collusion between the governor, the Congress and the UPA government to destabilise the popularly and democratically elected government," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

He alleged that the Congress-led UPA government has been using the governor as its "points-man" for destabilising the B S Yeddyurappa government.

"The governor is an old courtier of the Congress darbaar (court). He has lowered the prestige of the governor's office. The BJP feels that if at all any advisory is required to be sent from the Centre, it needs to be sent to the governor to chasten him and to make him mend his conduct," Hussain said.

The party is miffed that Bhardwaj sent a report to the Centre recommending President's Rule soon after the Supreme Court had quashed the state assembly speaker's decision disqualifying 11 BJP MLAs.

Meanwhile, Bhardwaj on Thursday said Raj Bhavan was like a prison where he was a "jail bird."

"Raj Bhavan is like a prison and I am like a jail bird here," Bhardwaj said, making no secret of his unhappiness over the recent turn of events culminating in the Centre rejecting his recommendation that had triggered a political war in the state and put him and the ruling BJP on a collision course.

The BJP had launched an agitation demanding the recall of Bhardwaj, who has been having an uneasy relationship with the saffron party's first ever government in the south.

He said his entry into politics was by accident and added that prior to his plunge into politics, he was a good advocate.

"I am not a politician or a thinker. I am a good advocate," he said in an apparent bid to reject BJP's accusations that he has turned Raj Bhavan into a political hub.
