Sacked Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi will now have to face volley of questions by the Enforcement Directorate with a Delhi court on Friday allowing the agency to interrogate him in connection with the money laundering case registered by it.

Besides Kalmadi, Special Central Bureau of Investigation Judge Talwant Singh also allowed the ED to question former OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot, OC Joint Director General (sport) A S V Prasad and Deputy Director General (procurement) Surjit Lal and directed the agency to file its report in this regard within a month.

ED had registered the case against Kalmadi and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act alleging he had played vital role in every financial dealing of the OC.

The CBI has also chargesheeted Kalmadi and others on Friday accusing them of allegedly awarding the lucrative contract to the Swiss firm to install a Timing-Scoring-Result system for the Commonwealth Games at an exorbitant cost, causing a loss of over Rs 90 crore to the exchequer.

ED's prosecutor Naveen Kumar Matta told the court that investigation in the case is going on and they need to quiz Kalmadi and other three accused.

The agency has also asked Kalmadi to furnish details of his bank accounts, movable and immovable properties, instances of foreign travel before the Commonwealth Games held last year, and transactions of foreign exchange in the last few years.

ED had earlier questioned former OC Director General V K Verma, also named as accused in the CBI's chargesheet, in connection with a case registered by it.
