As the Central Bureau of Investigation continued it preliminary investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets of YSR Congress chief and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, representatives of 28 companies that invested in entities owned by Jaganmohan, have so far appeared before CBI in response to the notices, a senior official said on Friday.

"The preliminary inquiry into the investments made in various companies owned by Jaganmohan is continuing...and till date, representatives of 28 companies appeared before the CBI," a senior CBI officer told PTI on Friday night, adding that no fresh notices were issued.

The CBI, which carried out preliminary investigation into the matter, had submitted its findings through a preliminary inquiry probe report before the Andhra Pradesh High Court on July 26.

On the CBI's plea that it needed 'some more time' to finalise the report, the AP High Court on last Wednesday permitted the agency to continue its preliminary inquiry and set a new deadline of August 1.

The CBI on July 16 issued notices to 20 investment companies which invested in the businesses owned by Jaganmohan, following an earlier direction of the AP High Court, which asked the CBI to submit, within two weeks, a preliminary report into allegations that Jaganmohan misused the office of his father, late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, to get investments into his business empire from various beneficiary companies.

As a part of the preliminary investigation, CBI initially served notices on 24 investment companies which invested in Jaganmohan's businesses. Later on, some more companies were served with the notices, CBI sources said adding that in the past two weeks, they took up detailed investigations into the financial details (on the funds invested into Jagan's firms).
