Pakistan on Friday highlighted the need for continuation of dialogue process with India, saying it was an "encouraging sign" that the parleys are helping develop better understanding of each other's point of view on all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.

"The continuation of dialogue process with India will help both the countries to improve environment as well as facilitate discussions on all issues of concern between them," Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said.

He made the comments during a meeting with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who called on him to brief him on her visit to India for talks with her counterpart S M Krishna.

The prime minister said that it is an encouraging sign that talks between the two countries are helping develop better understanding of each other's point of view on all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.

The statement said Gilani was "also pleased to learn that the Indian Prime Minister would be visiting Pakistan at his earliest convenience."

In a separate statement, President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed the commitment of the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan "to work together in seeking early and amicable solutions to all issues between the two countries".

The President expressed satisfaction over the progress made during the visit of Khar to India.
