According to a senior Cabinet minister and senior leader of the Congress, the Bharatiya Janta Party is indulging in 'unethical behaviour and undemocratic aggressive methods' to oppose the United Progressive Alliance government in its second tenure.

He thinks BJP is unable to digest its defeat and so it has developed a defeatist mentality.

If one is to believe the senior minister of UPA, who is quite powerful too, BJP has disintegrated.

As per his analysis, the Congress may be down but it's not having a 'defeatist mentality.' He thinks BJP is unable to digest successive defeats of 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

While talking to select journalists in an off the record conversation, the minister also said that the BJP neither has credible leadership nor a cohesive way of giving reactions.

The minister also talked about India's economy. He said in UPA government's first tenure the world economy was better, so India's economy was booming.

The foreign direct investment during UPA's first tenure was $30 billion, but due to volatile oil price and world economy's downturn since last few years, FDI has gone down to less than $8 billion.

When asked why government's performance in UPA's second tenure was disappointing if compared to UPA's first tenure, the minister was candid.

He agreed that UPA-II is not performing well. He said that government is weighted down by scams and there is pressure to come out of it. He also said they are feeling pressure to give explanations.
