Two children were killed and three others were critically injured in an explosion on the outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday evening.

Bismah, 12, and her brother Noor Mohammad, 14, were killed on the spot by an explosive device they had found in the village.

"The siblings were killed on the spot and three persons, including two children and a woman, were taken to the hospital in a critical condition," the officer said.

Malroo village, located on the outskirts of Srinagar, witnessed a fierce gunfight late last year in which three militants were killed.
