Over 3,100 terrorists have been arrested in Pakistan in the last three years and a majority of them were nabbed from the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the country's northwest.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik informed the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, on Wednesday that the security forces arrested 3,143 terrorists in the country and recovered 4,240 weapons from them during the last three years.

The data showed that 2,103 terrorists, 67 per cent of the total arrested, had been nabbed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whereas 84 per cent or 3,554 of the total weapons had been seized in the troubled Balochistan province, the Dawn reported.

The list of the arms seized showed that the highest number of rocket launchers (30) had been recovered in Punjab, 619 hand grenades, 218 Kalashnikovs, 120 rockets and 41 bombs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 115 pistols and eight mines in Balochistan.
