Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday claimed that a large number of Bahujan Samaj Party leaders in Uttar Pradesh are in touch with the party, and Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal is also willing to form an alliance with it ahead of the state assembly polls.

"A large number of BSP people are in touch with the Congress, besides a number of small parties including Ajit Singh led RLD are willing to form an alliance with the party," Singh told the media in Pratapgharh.

He said that the party has started preparations for the assembly elections and screening committee has started selection of candidates. The Congress leader claimed that the Congress would form the next government in the state and rooting out corruption would be one of the main planks in the coming elections.

Criticising the erstwhile National Democratic Alliance government, Singh said that when he was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh during its regime, fund allocation by the Centre was very less and states worked on overdraft.

He said that in UPA government every year Rs 3,250 crore was being provided under National Rural Health Scheme itself.

The Congress leader alleged that due to corruption first a deputy director was eliminated, then a chief medical officer was murdered and after that a deputy CMO was killed inside the jail in UP.
