Hectic meets resumed on Monday in the faction-ridden Bharatiya Janata Party. Yeddyurappa told newsmen that his faction has proposed the name of a candidate and now its up to the senior leadership to take the final call.
He also said that the running of the Karnataka government would have been smooth had they won with an absolute majority. However, because of a simple majority they had to rely on other candidates and trouble emerged.
The Yeddyurappa faction, which claims the support of 78 members of Legislative Assembly, is accommodated at The Chancery Hotel, while the rival faction of BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar faction is staying put at Hotel Ashok.
Each one them are keeping their aides closed ahead of Wednesday's crucial announcement. Both these factions are likely to display their strength on Wednesday, as they a candidate for the CM's post.
The Yeddyurappa faction is backing Lok Sabha member DV Sadananda Gowda for the top post, Kumar's side is promoting Rural Development Minister Jagadish Shettar for the top post.
