The Congress and the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam on Thursday slammed the draft report released by Public Accounts Committee chairman Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and demanded that he should resign from his post. The meeting is expected to be a stormy one in view of the different stances taken by various political parties.

Leaders of DMK and Congress addressed a joint press conference, where they questioned Joshi's decision to release the draft report to the media.

"I received an email well past midnight on Tuesday and I was shocked to read the contents of the report when I opened it on Wednesday afternoon. By then, the whole media was talking about the draft report," a DMK member said.

Senior Congress leaders hit out at Joshi for dragging in the names of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram in connection to the 2G scam.

"The release of the draft report is unfortunate and we do not agree with many comments made by the chairman, who is highly biased," said Congress MP Navin Jindal.

Communist Party of India leader D Raja refused to comment about the draft report. "I have no access to the draft report. Let us see what happens at the meeting today, when the parliamentary committee takes it up to give it a final shape. The government should explain some of the allegations made in the draft report," he said.

Bhartiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, who will join the PAC as a member on May 1, criticised the Congress for politicising the parliamentary process.

"They always do this when things do not suit them," he said.
