Sources in the UP police department told rediff.com said they had made the demand after conducting a survey of all the sensitive areas across the state. On 10 companies of the sanctioned 40 have arrived in the state so far..

The state home ministry has also decided to convert schools in several places into makeshift jails. They are expecting to carry out a large number of preventive arrests before the verdict. The home ministry has said that it does not want to take chances with the law and order situation. Instructions have also been given to stop celebrations of any kind after the verdict.

Various organisations, who are fighting this issue, have also instructed their cadres and organisations to maintain peace and calm irrespective of whichever way the verdict goes.

The state government has identified Azamgarh, Rampur, Pareli, Muradabad and Faisabad as the most sensitive areas and all schools in these places will be converted into makeshift jails. These areas have a larger Muslim population.
