Since the strike has been called by Left-leaning trade unions, the strike is successful in Left-dominant states like Kerala [ Images ] and West Bengal [ Images ], and quite tepid in other states. But there are pockets all over where the strike has had some effect -- in the form of shutdown of banks, or taxis and autorickshaws -- the popular mode of commute for the common man -- not running, doctors not reporting for work etc.
