The special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Ahmedabad adjourned the hearing on the bail application of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, arrested in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, till September 9.

Special CBI Judge P P Bhatt adjourned the matter after counsels from both the sides sought more time as their senior counsels were not present for the hearing on Tuesday.

"The next hearing in case has been fixed for September 9," Mitesh Amin, a counsel of Amit Shah, said.

This the fourth time that the matter has been adjourned as the senior counsel of Amit Shah was not able to appear in the court.

However, in Tuesday's hearing the senior counsel of CBI was also absent.

Shah, a former minister of state for home and close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was arrested by the CBI on July 25 in connection with the fake encounter case and charged with murder, extortion and kidnapping.

Shah's bail application was filed on July 26, a day after his arrest. Four IPS officers have been arrested in the case so far by the investigating agencies and role of then investigating officer Geeta Johri, is also under scanner.

Those IPS officers arrested in the case include D G Vanzara, Raj Kumar Pandiyan, Dinesh M N, and Abhay Chudasma.
