Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi asserted "no force on earth" can defeat his party in the elections if only his partymen refrain from criticising fellow partymen and stand united.

Referring to complaints of DMK men from Ramanathapuram district at an interactive session here headed by him that ministers ignored their petitions on implementation of several schemes, he said the partymen had only expressed their grievances and not hurled diatribes against ministers.

"I have one grievance. There is no complete unity among you. If we achieve this, neither AIADMK nor thousands of other parties like them can defeat us," he told DMK men from the district. Putting the partymen into election mode ahead of next year's assembly polls, Karunanidhi started his consultation with them district-wise from today, starting with Ramanathapuram where partymen were asked to give their views on the performance of his four-and-a-half-year old ministry.

Having a dig at the Left parties, especially CPI-M, he said Left parties-backed dailies had carried full-page reports with photographs on the Madurai rally by AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa "only to create an impression that the AIADMK was the biggest party in the country".

"It was done by the same leaders who had approached me a few years back to retrieve lands meant for Dalits," he said without referring to the CPI-M which had spearheaded a campaign against Jayalalithaa, alleging that her close aides had taken away the Panchami lands given to the Dalits at Siruthavur near here.

He stressed the need for internal democracy in the party and asked the partymen to remember that it was very important that the party won the next assembly polls.
