Accepting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's challenge to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for an open debate on central fund utilisation in the state, senior Congress leader Mukul Wasnik on Monday said his party was ready for a "fitting reply".

"You have challenged the prime minister for an open debate on the issue of utilisation of funds in Bihar. We accept it," Wasnik told an election rally in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Kishanganj.

"You fix a date and decide the venue for the debate, we are ready for a fitting reply," said Wasnik, party leader in-charge of Bihar.

A day after Dr Singh castigated the Nitish Kumar government on Saturday for not fully discharging the responsibilities for utilisation of central assistance, the Bihar CM had challenged the prime minister to hold an open dialogue on the issue.
