A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA was on Thursday wounded as the in-session Jammu and Kashmir assembly witnessed pandemonium over the speech of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the House on Wednesday.

A policeman was also injured outside the assembly as the BJP members were marshaled out of the House on Thursday morning.

The chief minister had on Wednesday said that the state of Jammu and Kashmir 'had acceded to India through an agreement but not merged with it.'

Winding up the two-day debate in the state assembly on the present law and order scenario in Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said, "The accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India has occurred under an agreement. We have not broken that agreement nor we have taken it back but you have gradually demolished it and people are aggrieved and angry for your this act. We both were required to uphold and respect the agreement. Many say that much water has flown down the Jhelum since then. We also agree, but it is still a fact that Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India is under an agreement and it is not the merger."

As the state assembly session began on Thursday morning, BJP and Panthers Party MLA's took to the well of the House protesting Omar Abdullah's speech in the assembly.

After order could not be restored as the members kept shouting, the Speaker ordered the marshals to remove the members from the House.

The BJP members tried to put some resistance, but they were 'pushed out' of the House by the watch and ward officials of the state assembly.

It was during that period that the BJP MLA Durga Dass sustained injury and was taken to hospital where doctors stitched his wound. The MLA was later taken to Soura medical institute for further medical check up.

The BJP MLA's have now decided to boycott the rest of the session.

Taking a dig on BJP's approach towards the present crisis, Omar in his speech had on Wednesday said, "It is easy to say that Jammu and Kashmir is the integral part of India and it sounds nice to the ears but if there is no doubt in your minds and hearts on this account, why you are time and again shouting this slogan from the top of your voices?"
