The Bharatiya Janata Party's core group decided that it will demand the resignation of Telecom Minister A Raja in the wake of his reported indictment by CAG in 2G spectrum allocation and reiterate its demand for JPC probe into the issue as also CWG and Adarsh housing society scams.

The core group of BJP leadership met at senior party leader L K Advani's residence to discuss the party's strategy in the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

The party had earlier also decided that it would make corruption in implementation of government schemes a key issue and take on the UPA on the three major scams that have come to light in recent days.

Top BJP sources said the core group reached a decision on demanding Raja's ouster after the CAG submitted his report to the government.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India said it has submitted to the government the report on the 2G spectrum allotment that is presumed to have caused a revenue loss of up to Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

The resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and removal of Suresh Kalmadi from a key post in Congress party have come as a shot in the arm for BJP which feels this is the right to demand Raja's exit from union cabinet.

The main opposition had raised alleged anomalies in the 2G spectrum allocation in the last session of Parliament as well with Advani citing a media report to demand that Raja be dismissed and a thorough probe ordered. BJP is also most likely to give a notice tomorrow in both houses of Parliament for adjournment of the Question Hour and a discussion on the three scams.

The CAG report said the price at which the spectrum was alloted in 2008 was based on 2001 prices, which was quite low and has resulted in a loss to the government exchequer. The report also said Raja ignored the advice of the Law Ministry and the Prime Minister and advanced the cut-off date for giving the Letter of Intent (LoI).
