US National Security Advisor James Jones and Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon Panetta who visited Pakistan on Monday are believed to have conveed this message to the Pakistani government, the Dawn reported.
Jones spoke to the Pakistani ambassador Husain Haqqani and discussed the broad outlines of the message with him.
The fact that all the major terrorist attacks in recent times have a Pakistani link has alarmed the Americans. The US administration is concerned that people could so easily connect with the Al Qaeda and its affiliated terror groups. The fact that these people could go and train with such organisation in the tribal parts near the Afghan border and get back to the mainstream without being detected by the Pakistani authorities is another point that Jones raised.
Jones and Panetta bear the same message that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sounded a few days ago. Clinton had said that Pakistan would have to face very serious consequences if an attack on the US, which was planned in Pakistan, had succeeded. To avoid coming down heavily on Pakistan, the US has offered to cooperate with the Pakistan to eliminate such threats.
Haqqani has also warned the US against persecuting Pakistani Americans in the wake Shehzad Faisal's arrest.
