A suspected Maoist was arrested and six others were detained for interrogation in connection with blast by ultras leading to the derailment of Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani express near Gaya Railway station. Deputy Inspector General (Magadh range) Anupama Nilekar told PTI that the suspect, Badri Yadav, was arrested from Paraiya police station area in Gaya district.

Meanwhile, the probe into the causes leading to the derailment of the train on Monday night was started by RP Yadav, chief safety commissioner, eastern circle. Yadav visited the derailment site near Gaya railway station during the day, official sources said. The probe would ascertain the reasons leading to the derailment, suggest measures to prevent recurrence and the response of the relief and rescue operation after the incident, the sources said.

Passengers on board the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express had a miraculous escape when the engine and ten of its coaches derailed near Gaya station following an explosion triggered by Maoists during the 48-hour shutdown against Operation Greenhunt. The accident took place between Kasta and Paraiya stations under Gaya-Mughalsarai section of the East Central Railway.
