The Centre is unhappy with the manner in which certain information was made public by Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad chief K P Raghuvanshi after the arrest of two suspects planning to carry out terror attacks in Mumbai, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said on Wednesday.
Addressing mediapersons in Mumbai, Chavan said even though the state government has not received any directive regarding action against Anti-Terrorism Squad Raghuvanshi, he was aware that the Centre was unhappy with the way certain information was given away soon after the arrests.
"The Centre feels it has hampered investigations," Chavan said.
Asked whether action would be taken against Raghuvanshi, Chavan said he would talk to Home Minister R R Patil and discuss the issue.
Declining to give details, Chavan said aspects of investigations regarding sensitive issues should not come out.
"It can be damaging," the chief minister said.
Abdul Latif alias Guddu (29) and Riyaz Ali alias Rehan (23), residents of suburban Bandra and Dahisar respectively, were arrested near Matunga railway station in central Mumbai on Saturday.
ATS chief Raghuvanshi, at a press conference on Sunday, had said a preliminary probe suggested the duo were getting instructions from someone called 'Uncle' from Pakistan to execute their activities in Mumbai.
Both Guddu and Rehan had allegedly conducted a recce of three targets -- headquarters of public sector company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Thakkar Mall and Mangaldas Market -- and were planning to carry out attacks which included sabotage and setting them on fire.
