Kochi on alert after reported LeT threat

Union Home Secretary G K Pillai has given a missive to Kerala DGP and the Kochi city police commissioner on the possibility of a Lashkar terror attack in the city in the near future.

The Kochi police have already tightened the security in the area and the police have started combing operations.

All vehicles in and out of the city are being intercepted in the roads and the police is leaving no stone unturned.

Several police teams, led by city police commissioner Manoj Abraham is already on the prowl and the police parties are checking in at several hotels and other paying guest accommodations to search for suspected elements .

Police in Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha have also started security checks and the police have already conducted inspection in several luxury house boats .

Police teams are already searching the tourist hubs of the state, including Munnar and Idukki, which have proximity to Kochi.
