The Victoria police denied making any further arrest in connection with the killing of Indian toddler Gurshan Singh Channa.

On Sunday, it was speculated that another woman was likely to be charged after a 23-year old Indian taxi driver Dhillon Gursewak was arrested with manslaughter by criminal negligence over the death.

According to Australian Associated Press report, Victoria Police spokeswoman said on Monday that it was not the case.

The woman believed to be Gursewak's wife was expected to be charged for helping him in disposing of the body.

Victoria police spokeswoman said "Definitely not. The wife has not been arrested or charged."

She added that no further arrests or charges over the three-year-old boy's death are expected at this time.

Gursewak, a part-time taxi driver, has faced an out-of-sessions court hearing, where it was alleged that he placed the child in the boot of his car unconscious, before being left where his body was found on Thursday.

No evidence has been heard on how the little boy was rendered unconscious and an autopsy has failed to determine the cause of death.

Gursewak lived in the same Lalor house, in northern Melbourne, as the boy and his parents and several others.

He was denied bail and remanded to custody over the long weekend and will appear in Melbourne magistrates' court on Tuesday.
