Indian American doctor is Baltimore Medical Society president

Anuradha D Reddy, MD, a rheumatologist from Baltimore, Maryland, has been sworn in as the 107th president of the Baltimore City Medical Society.

Many dignitaries from the government attended the presidential installation dinner on January 30. Reddy is the seventh woman president and second Indian to be inaugurated in the 205-year history of the Baltimore City Medical Society.

In her inaugural speech, Reddy called for more active participation by women physicians. She promised to work with the Maryland State Medical Society to improve the medical practice environment for physicians. She also urged physicians to get involved in community service. 

Reddy graduated from Bangalore Medical College, completed her internal medicine training at the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in New Jersey and her rheumatology fellowship at the Cabrini Medical Center and St Vincent's Hospital, New York. She is board certified in internal medicine and she has received scholarships and awards as a student and medical professional. 

She served as president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, Maryland Chapter, from 2008 to 2009. She is also a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
