Terming National Conference-led coalition regime in Jammu and Kashmir as a "total failure", Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday claimed that common people in many remote parts of Jammu region are "facing starvation" due to non-availability of rations.
"Common masses are at the verge of starvation due to non-availability of rations in most of the remote areas of Jammu region and the authorities are unconcerned towards their misery," PDP General Secretary Thakur Balbir Singh told a party convention at Sangaldan in Reasi district of Jammu division.
Since January 5, 2009, when Omar Abdullah had taken over as the Chief Minister of the state, problems of the common people have been increasing day by day, he claimed.
"The failure of the government can be gauged from the fact that farmers, employees, technocrats, unemployed youth, students have been agitating in one or the other way in the state and yet the government is non-serious in address their issues," Singh said.
Instead of solving problems of the common masses, the "ruling elite" are more concerned about "petty politicking", he alleged. The PDP leader asked the party leaders to launch a "war against this anti-people government".
