A 61-year-old Indian man was found dead under an overpass bridge in Melbourne with stab wounds, a report stated on Monday.
"The father of two from Doncaster suburb, had been found next to parkland in the Koonung Creek reserve, near Estelle Street, Bulleen, on Sunday, 'The Age' reported quoting Detective Inspector Bernie Edwards.
The inspector said that the man lived on the other side of the bridge, which crosses the Eastern Freeway. "We are still investigating how he got to the bottom of the bridge," he said adding blood has been found on the bridge, and police officials are scouring nearby parkland for any signs of a knife or sharp-edged weapon.
It was particularly cold on Sunday morning so there would have been few pedestrians in the area. Edwards said the injuries to the man might have occurred somewhere away from the scene.
The man lived locally and had been in the country for some time. The family have called for details of the man's identity not to be released.
