The pilot of the crashed helicopter of the Indian Navy died at Anakapally hospital in Visakhapatanam after suffering critical injuries on Wednesday.
The pilot, Colonel Krishnan, died while undergoing treatment at NTR Hospital.
Three people were injured in the crash -- including co-pilot Deepika Mishra, trainee pilots Tushar and Rishikesh. While Deepika was seriously injured, other two escaped with minor injuries.
According to preliminary reports, the Chetak helicopter had crashed between Anakapally-Tummapala into Sharda rivulet after hitting a high-tension electric wire.
Thousands of people gathered at the accident site, where the cockpit and other parts of the helicopter were seen floating in the rivulet.
The crash could have turned into a bigger disaster as petrol bunks were on the copter's path. But the pilot had wisely steered the crashing copter away from the petrol bunks and brought it down on a rivulet.
The navy has ordered an inquiry into the accident.
