One of the senior most leaders of the Congress party and former chief minister of Nagaland, S C Jamir on Thursday called for a change in approach on part of the Government of India in respect of Naga peace talks.
He said involvement of only the NSCN-IM, led by Thuingaleng Muivah and Isak Swu in the peace talks, would not solve the problem.
Interacting with media at here, Jamir said from now onwards the peace-talks should be "all inclusive" involving Naga people as a whole given that the Government of India has already rejected the two principal demands of the NSCN-IM sovereignty and integration of Naga inhabited areas in the North East.
He termed the NSCN-IM's demand for sovereignty unrealistic in the present context. He said all other Naga rebel factions NSCN-K, two faction of Naga National Council (NNC) led by Adino and Shangio leaders from civil society, leaders of tribes and political leaders should be involved in the Naga peace-talks from now onwards.
The 80-year-old leader said that he was ready to play any role to find solution to the vexed problem.
