IPS officers from 1993 to 1996 batches can now start polishing their resume as Home Minister P Chidambaram is on a hunt for a trusted lieutenant.

The home ministry has put out an advertisement looking for the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to home minister to help him in his day-to-day affairs in the North Block.

The opportunity comes for the IPS officers of the batch of 1993 to 1996 who will have to mail a resume to the personal email ID of the home minister.

"Two page bio-data to be sent on hm@nic.in with the subject line 'Application for the post of OSD to HM'," the advertisement says.

Closing date of the advertisement is July 23 and probable applicants have been asked to get in touch with outgoing OSD S A Rizvi for any clarifications.

The shortlisted candidate will be interviewed by Chidambaram himself.

A new OSD for the home minister was necessitated as Rizvi, a 1989 batch Uttarakhand cadre IPS officer, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General. According to government rules, an IG-level officer cannot be a member of the personal staff of Union Ministers.

Chidambaram's other key man is his private secretary M A Siddique, a 1995-batch IAS officer, of Tamil Nadu cadre.
