Pakistan Army chief meets Gilani

Pakistan Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Thursday met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani shortly before the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan called on the premier.

Kayani went to the prime minister's secretariat this afternoon for the meeting. An official statement said the army chief and the premier discussed the overall security situation in the country.

Kayani also briefed the premier on his recent visit to Australia. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and his Pakistani counterpart called on Gilani after their first round of talks at the Foreign Office.
