The Left Front and the Bharatiya Janata Party have joined hands to call for a nationwide 12-hour strike on Monday to protest the astronomical rise in prices of essential commodities and fuel.
Life has come to a standstill in BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka and Left-ruled states like Bengal and Kerala. In states ruled by the Congress and its allies, like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, normal life has been severely affected by the bandh.
