Slain CRPF men's bodies flown to Assam

Thousands of people paid their last respects to the six Central Reserve Police Force jawans from Assam on Thursday who were killed along with 21 other colleagues in Narayanpur district of Chhattishgarh by Maoists rebels two days ago.

The bodies were brought to Assam by a special flight and handed over to their families by the CPRF authority.

Senior CRPF officials garlanded and paid respect to the mortal remains of jawans at Guwahati airport earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has announced a relief of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each dead CRPF jawan.

The six CRPF men from Assam were Constable Dhrubajyoti Das of Dadra in Kamrup district, Constable Arjun Goyari of Kahibari in Barpeta district, Head Constable Rajendra Nath Das of Betbari in Sivasagar district, Head Constable Anjan Phukon of Kakojan in Jorhat district, Constable K Singha of Dholai in Cachar district and Sohel Rana of Chapra in Barpeta district.
