Padma Bhushan for Aamir, Padma Shri for Sehwag

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has been selected for the 'Padma Bhushan' award on the occasion of 60th Republic Day.

Cricketer Virendra Sehwag and Badminton star Saina Nehwal have been chosen for the 'Padma Shri' awards along with yesteryear Bollywood diva Rekha and actor Saif Ali Khan.

Nobel laureate Dr Venkataraman Ramakrishnan and veteran theatre and film actor Zohra Sehgal have been chosen for the Padma Vibhushan award, the second highest civilian award in India.

Apollo hospital chief Pratap Reddy and former Reserve Bank of India Governor Y V Reddy were also chosen for the Padma Vibhushan awards. Eminent theatre personality Ebrahim Alkazi and noted mridangam artist Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman were also chosen for the prestigious

44-year-old Amir Khan, who made his directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed Taare Zameen Par in 2007, recently came out with 3 Idiots that has become the highest-earning movie in Bollywood.

Apart from this, music maestro Illaiyaraaja and Oscar famed music composer A R Rahman have also been selected for the prestigious Padma Bhushan awards. Oscar winner sound recordist of Slumdog Millionaire Resul Pokutty has also been awarded with a Padma Shri.

Eminent journalist Fareed Zakaria and prominent hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal have also been selected for Padma Bhushan.

Eminent neurosurgeon Satya Paul Agarwal, and famed cardiac surgeon Ramakant Panda, who performed 'beating heart' surgery on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year, have also been awarded the Padma Bhushan.

Hockey player Ignace Tirkey, Formula 1 driver Narain Kartikeyan, Boxer Vijender Singh and Sachin Tendulkar's 'guru' Ramakant Achrekar have also been selected for Padma Shri awards in sports category.
