Taking a strong exception to frequent ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the neighbouring nation should avoid confrontation with India for its own interest.
"Of late there have been attempts to violate ceasefire along borders in J&K with an aim to push in armed militants to this side...since neighbours can not be changed, therefore it is in the interest of Pakistan to have good relations with India," Omar told a public meeting at Swankha, about 35 km from Jammu, in Samba district.
"Not only attempts were made to cut the fence along the borders, but there were also instances to blow it...Pakistan should realise that situation in that country is deteriorating with blasts taking place every day," he said.
Indo-Pak relationship has direct bearing on developmental activities of J&K and it is always in the best interest of the state that both the countries live in friendly, peaceful and cordial atmosphere, Omar said, adding that he wished Pakistan create an atmosphere in which the dialogue process between the two countries resumes.
On reports of China occupying land along Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, Abdullah told reporters that there was no official information about it.
"There exists land dispute, but there is no information that China has occupied any portion of our land," he said.
