The Central Bureau of Investigation will probe the fresh FIRs registered by the Haryana police against former Director General of Police S P S Rathore and others in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, according to a central government notification issued on Monday.

Official sources said the CBI will probe all the three new cases, which include the one accusing Rathore of abetment to suicide. They have been lodged by Ruchika's family. Two other FIRs, filed by Ruchika's father S C Girhotra and her brother Ashu, have charged Rathore with attempt to murder, wrongful confinement and forging of post-mortem report of Ruchika, who had committed suicide three years after she was molested by the former IPS officer on August 12, 1990.

The trial court had handed down lesser sentence of six months jail term and a fine of Rs 1000 to Rathore for molesting the 14-year-old girl.
