6 terrorists sneak in; Bihar put on alert

January 01, 2010 16:40 IST

Six terrorists with international connections have entered Bihar from neighbouring Nepal, following which an alert has been sounded, a senior police officer said on Friday.

Quoting intelligence sources, the officer said the terrorists have sneaked into Araria district from Nepal after killing an Inter Services Intelligence agent in the neighbouring country on December 27. The terrorists are "fully trained with international connections," he said.

The police headquarters in Patna alerted Araria Superintendent of Police Umashankar Sudhanshu and the 19th battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal, stationed in Patna, to keep a close watch on the activities of outsiders. Raids were on in various areas to locate the terrorists.

"Constant vigil is being maintained at the railway station, temples and other important places," the officer said. "An alert has also been sounded on the Jogbani border connecting Nepal," he added.
