Scores of people, claiming to be Shah Rukh Khan fans, on Friday held a protest in central Delhi against the Shiv Sena for targeting the actor and his film My Name is Khan.
Shouting slogans, the protesters, led by local Member of Legislative Assembly Shoaib Iqbal gathered near Delite cinema in Daryaganj and burnt the effigies of Sena leaders Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav.
Shiv Sena had on Thursday threatened it will not allow the screening of the film in cinemas and multiplexes in the National Capital Region.
Isolated cases of protest against screening of the film were, however, reported on Thursday night when persons claiming to be Shiv Sainiks tore posters of the movie and damaged windowpanes of Satyam cinema hall in west Delhi.
"Policemen have been deployed near the theatres in adequate numbers to avoid any violence. We are keeping a close watch," a senior police official said.
