Rejecting the news that its chief Hakimullah Mehsud died in Punjab en route to Karachi for treatment, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) says that Hakimullah never left the tribal belt either for shelter or for medication.

Earlier, reports said Taliban confirmed Mehsud's death near Multan city in Punjab while being taken to Karachi for treatment and the body was taken back to Aurakzai Agency.

Commander Shamim, who leads Taliban in Laddah area of South Waziristan, told rediff.com, "Mehsud is not dead. Nor has he left the tribal built for any other area. How could one believe that 'injured' Mehsud travelled up to Multan without getting arrested and at the same way his body was taken back to Aurakzai Agency."
