Telangana Cong leaders to defy Moily's diktat

Telangana Congress leaders have decided to defy party general secretary Veerappa Moily's diktatĀ  that they should withdraw from the Telangana Joint Action Committee.

After a meeting of Congress MLAs, MPs and MLCs from the region, senior Congress leader from the region K Jana Reddy told reporters that they would wait till the Centre announces the proposed committee to examine the demand for Telangana.

"We will meet once again to analyze the terms of reference of the committee and then decide our future course of action," he said. Till then, Jana Reddy appealed to people and political leaders, the agitation for separate state should continue in a peaceful and restrained manner.

The meeting, held at the committee hall in the state assembly building, also decided that a group of Telangana Congress leaders should go to New Delhi to closely monitor the situation. They decided to visit the capital in view of the presence of the Andhra Congress leaders in New Delhi to campaign against Telangana state.

A senior Congress MP from the region Madhu Yashki demanded that the party high command should immediately form a separate Congress committee for the region to reassure the people of its commitment for separate Telangana state.
