The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday filed its closure report in a special court in New Delhi in the two-and-a-half year-old sensational Aarushi murder case due to lack of evidence to nail anyone.

In its closure report which will be taken up by the Ghaziabad special court, the CBI has expressed its inability to carry out any further probe because of lack of sufficient evidence at the scene of crime.

Aarushi, the 14-year-old daughter of dentist couple -- Rajesh Talwar and Nupur -- was found dead with her throat slit at their residence at Jalwayu Vihar in Noida near Delhi on May 16, 2008.

Body of their domestic servant 45-year old Yam Prasad Banjade alias Hemraj, earlier seen as a suspect, was found on the terrace next day.

After Uttar Pradesh Police failed to reach any conclusion, the case was handed over to CBI which started its probe under Joint Director Arun Kumar on June 1, 2008 with the arrest of Rajesh Talwar in the case.

But when the CBI failed to make any headway in the case even after nearly 18 months, the investigative agency handed over the probe to a new team headed SP, CBI Neelabh Krishna.
