A class VIII student allegedly kidnapped a boy, three classes junior to him in the same school, for ransom and killed him within an hour with the help of his hostel mates in Patna, police said on Friday.

The senior student, whose name was being withheld as he is minor, lured Amarjit Kumar, class V student of KPS School at Gardanibagh, with giving him an iPod, took him hostage in his hostel and strangled him to death for fear of being caught on December 20, Senior Superintendent of Police B S Meena said.

The 12-year-old student also made calls to Kumar's father Akhilesh Prasad, a property dealer, demanding Rs five lakh

ransom before and after the murder, Meena told media persons.

The shocking incident came to light when Kumar's body was found at Sipara in Gardanibagh area on Thursday night and the arrest of two of the accused, including the class VIII student, later.

The kidnapper had told the 10-year-old boy to meet him at a private hostel at Jakkanpur on Monday evening to collect the iPod where he was held hostage and a ransom call was made to his home.

However, Meena said, the senior student and two of his hostel mates strangled him to death for fear of being caught, bundled the body in a bag and dumped it to an isolated place near Sipara.
