As the report on the controversial nuclear liability bill was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, non-Bharatiya Janata Party opposition parties stalled proceedings alleging a Congress-BJP deal in return for the Central Bureau of Investigation's clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in a fake encounter case.
The Rajya Sabha, which was adjourned for the day and the Lok Sabha twice till 2 pm, were rocked as Bahujan Samajwadi Party members stormed the well demanding dismissal of Karnataka government over alleged illegal mining.
The issue appeared to be a tit-for-tat by the BSP, which was at the receiving end for the last two days by the BJP and others over firing on farmers in Mayawati-ruled Uttar Pradesh.
BSP members shouted slogans like "Dismiss Karnataka government" and "Stop the loot by illegal mining".
In the Lok Sabha, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav led members of their parties into the well waving newspapers, which carried reports of Modi being given a clean chit in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
The Left members in Rajya Sabha, supported by the RJD and the Lok Janshati Party, created uproar over reports of the clean chit to Modi allegedly in return for BJP support for the crucial nuclear liability bill.
The RJD and BSP members as also LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan stormed the well.
In the din, the report of the Parliamentary committee looking into the controversial Nuclear Liability Bill was tabled in both the Houses.
The report on the bill, crucial for operationalisation of India's civil nuclear deals with various countries, was tabled in the Rajya Sabha by Committee Chairman T Subbirami Reddy and in the Lok Sabha by a member Pradeep Tamta.
As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, BSP members trooped into the well waving placards demanding dismissal of the BJP-led government in Karnataka, while Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad waved copies of a newspaper carrying reports relating to the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
The House was adjourned till noon.
Trouble erupted in the Rajya Sabha from the word go as BSP members carrying banners moved in the aisles and started raising slogans demanding dismissal of the BJP-led Karnataka government for allegedly allowing illegal mining, leading to its adjournment till noon.
Paswan and RJD MPs later sat on a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament House complex, protesting the clean chit to Modi allegedly as part of the Congress-BJP deal.
The SP supremo told reporters later that the "BJP and Congress are one. They have struck a deal over the nuclear bill for bailing out Narendra Modi".
