Constable held for RTI activist Jethwa's murder

A constable from Junagadh district has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of RTI activist and green crusader Amit Jethwa here, the police said on Tuesday. "We have arrested Bahadursinh Wadher, a police constable from Jungadh in connection with the killing of Jethwa. Wadher was posted in the Gir-Gadhada region of Junagadh," DCP (crime), Himanshu Shukla told PTI.

According to sources, the crime branch has detained couple of other persons and are questioning them about the case. Jethwa had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the high court against illegal mining in Gir forest region few days before he was shot dead from a close range by two unknown motorcycle-borne assailants near the Gujarat High Court on July 20.

His father Bhikabhai Jethwa had alleged that BJP MP from Junagadh, Dinu Solanki was involved in the murder. He had said that Solanki had threatened him and his son many times threatened over phone and also in public.
